Drum roll please! Entries for the 42nd Mourne Mountain Marathon are now open. You can enter via our website.

What is the Mourne Mountain Marathon?

For those of you unfamiliar with the event, it’s not your average 26 mile marathon, rather a 2 day test of endurance, navigation and mountain skills! A competitive event for teams of two, who can enter one of four categories, covering between 35km and 55km in the mountains, over two days. Camp overnight and be self-sufficient. Walkers to elite runners.

It’s all systems go, subject to any changes to COVID restrictions. The usual Elite, B, C and D Class remain and the Score Class is back, after it was dropped last year because of COVID.

Harvey Map Draw – July and August

To welcome everyone back we will be raffling a number of Harvey Superwalker XT25 Mourne Maps at the end of July and August.

The Mourne Maps (worth £13.50) have been donated by those lovely people at Harvey Mapping. The XT series of maps are double sided, fully waterproof, lightweight and very tough whilst retaining the same clarity and detail of their standard Superwalker series maps. They are ideal for fast navigational events such as mountain marathons. If you don’t yet own a Harvey Mourne Map, the XT25 version is definitely the one to get.

We will draw 4 teams at random from the entries up to midnight Saturday 31st July and post out a map to each winning team*. We will do the same again for all entries up to up to Sunday 29th August. So the earlier entries get 2 chances to win!!

We’ve a great course and campsite planned for this year. Don’t miss out – find a partner, get training and enter now!

*N.B. Only one prize per team across the 2 draws. Winners’ names will be published each month.
